Birthday

Today’s my birthday.

I wanted to buy a keyboard. What I had in my mind was

1. Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2 or

2. DAS Keyboard Silent 2

But they are both too expensive and was not easy to get one.

So I went to Walmart and bought Microsoft ARC keyboard. This is my birthday gift to myself.

It’s not that bad. Microsoft is better at hardware, so they should change their name to MicroHard.

오늘은 생일.

원래 키보드를 하나 사고 싶었다. 사고 싶었던 것은

1. 해피 해킹 키보드 또는

2. DAS 키보드

였지만 둘 다 비싸고 사기도 어려웠다.

그래서 그냥 월마트 가서 MS의 ARC 키보드 샀다. 내 자신에게 주는 생일선물이다.

나쁘진 않다. 사실 마이크로스프트는 하드웨어를 더 잘 만든다. 이름을 마이크로하드라고 바꿔야 할 듯.

English Level Test

Recently I got an English Level Test which is also called Benchmark Test. It is done by, I believe, Manitoba Provincial Government.

Once they assess the new comers’ English, they arrange them to the English schools, and the school is FREE. Actually, it is government funded. The level is 1 to 8 which is best. And if I have all 8s, then I cannot attend free school – this is what I was heard.

At the final step of my test, I just said “I didn’t hear.” And the result was:

Reading:8, Writing:8, Speaking:8, Listening:7

This was exactly what I wanted. I can attend the free school!

얼마 전에 영어 레벨 테스트라는 걸 받았는데, 벤치마크 테스트라고도 한다. 이건, 내 생각엔 주정부에서 하는 것 같다.

일단 신규 이민자들의 영어를 평가한 다음엔, 무료 학교로 보내준다. 사실 무료가 아니라 정부가 돈을 낸다. 레벨은 1부터 8까진데, 8이 가장 좋은 것이다. 어떤 사람에게 듣기로는 모두 8을 받으면 무료 영어 학교를 다닐 수가 없다고 했다.

그래서 마지막 시험볼 때, “안들리는데요”라고 했더니, 시험 결과는:

읽기:8, 쓰기:8, 말하기:8, 듣기:7

로 내가 원하는 대로 나왔다. 무료 학교에 다닐 수가 있다!
