The forks / La fourche

Everyone I met in Winnipeg recommended me to go to te forks.

The forks is the meeting place and trading place lies in where Red river and Assiniboine river meet. It is near downtown. The forks has been the trading place for at least 6,000 years by the natives and by the european fur trader.

But current forks was made at 1738. And then the historical market place was made, a threatre was built, railway station was made… Now this is the big park in the cetral downtown, where most people are gathered. If some big event is in Winnipeg, it should be in the forks.

It takes five or ten minutes to the forks from home. There was Children’s Festival.

Well, this is Canada – look at the big sign of Tim Hortons.

This is the bridge just beside the forks. There is a some kind of restaurant in the centre of the bridge. It must have nice view.

If you come to Winnipeg, you have to come and see the forks. But it would be stupid to come to Winnipeg to see the forks.
