어제 밤 기온이 영상 2도로 너무 덥다는 날씨 얘기를 블로그에 썼다.

그런데 오늘, 밤이 아닌 낮 기온이 영하 20로 뚝 떨어졌다. 이런…

Normally it should be -20C or little bit higher during the day and -30C overnight this time of year.

But these days, it is +5C during the day, and +2C overnight. It is too warm. It is too much.

We may change the name from Global warming to Global Boiling.

요즘 위니펙이 참 따뜻하다. 좋기는 한데 걱정도 된다.

일반적으로 이맘때 쯤에는 낮에는 영하 20도, 밤에는 영하 30도가 되어야 정상인데, 요즘에는 낮에는 양상 5도, 밤에는 영상 2도다.

이건 너무한 것 같다. 이건 좀 지나치다. 어쩌면 지구온난화 대신에 지구삶기라고 말을 바꿔야 할지도.

My first impression was, ‘wow expensive.’

I’ve never had this close look at the jewellery before, and I couldn’t understand why girls like them. And now I kind of understand it. They are very beautiful and pretty.

Diamond was used as tools rather than a gemstone before 19th century. And it is purely made of carbon which is the same as coal. And the name came from ancient greek ‘adamas’ which means unbreakable. And because it is strongest and toughest stone in the world, the jewellery companies successfully commercialised and advertised it as the symbol of forever love. Now it is the most popular gemstone.

처음으로 보석상에 가봤다.

첫 인상은 ‘헐 비싸다’였다.

한번도 보석을 가까이서 본 적이 없었고, 여자들이 왜 좋아하는지 이해하지 못했다. 지금은 알 것 같다. 예쁘긴 예쁘더라.

다이아몬드는 19세기 이전까지는 보석보다는 도구로 쓰였다. 또한 순전히 탄소로만 만들어졌는데 이는 석탄도 마찬가지다. 다이아몬드라는 이름은 깨지지 않는다는 의미를 지닌 고대 그리스어 ‘아다마스’에서 나왔다. 다이아몬드는 세상에서 가장 강한 물질이기 때문에 보석 회사들이 성공적으로 이를 영원한 사랑의 징표로 광고했고, 이제는 가장 유명한 보석이 되었다.

With my ex, it was maximum three hours, and it hurt my ears. But with Hannah, it was very good and I just thought it was only like thirty minutes.

She was so cute that she was so sleepy and still did not want to go to bed. She is my precious Angel.

몇일 전에 여친 한나와 구글 영상 채팅을 여덟 시간  반동안 했다.

옛 여친과는 세 시간 정도가 최대였던 것 같고, 귀가 아팠다. 그런데 한나와는 마냥 좋았고 마치 30분 정도인줄 알았다.

졸리면서도 자러 가지 않는 여친이 참 귀여웠다. 나의 귀한 천사.

何日前、ガールフレンドなハンナとグーグルのヴィデオ・チャッチングを八時間半した。

もと彼女とは三時間ぐらいが最大みたい。そして、耳が痛かった。でもハンナとはただよかった。丸で三十分みたかった。

眠いなのに寝にいかない彼女がとてもかわいかった。:-) 俺の大事な天使。

My first impression was ‘It is very good. Do we really need to rewrite this just because it was written quite many years ago?’ After discussion with my minister, Rev. Peter Bush, we agreed that this statement does not explicitly mention about the ‘blood’ and ‘cross’ of our Saviour which made it unclear what ‘redemptive work’ means. And we didn’t like the denominations and faiths because I think we have only one faith and one Church. I am totally OK with other protestant denominations but not with any denomination who declare themselves as Christian denominations. So if we can drop the expression of ‘denominations and faiths,’ that would be great. Other than, this statement is very good overall.

캐나다 장로교는 미션 선언문을 개정하려고 한다. 선언문 전문은 위에 영어로 있는데 번역하기가 귀찮으므로 읽으실 분은 영어로 읽길 바란다.

이 선언문을 읽은 내 첫 소감은 ‘좋은데, 왜 고쳐야 하지?’였다. 피터 부시 목사님과 토론을 한 후에 이 선언문이 ‘보혈’과 ‘십자가’를 명시하지 않아서 ‘구속적 사역’이 명확하지 않게 되었다는 것에 동의했다. 또한 ‘교파들과 믿음들’이라는 표현이 맘에 들지 않았는데, 우리에게는 오직 한 믿음과 한 교회만이 있을 뿐이기 때문이다. 다른 개신교 종파들과는 전혀 문제가 없지만 스스로를 기독교라고 하는 모든 교파들이 다 괜찮은 건 아니다. 그래서 해당 표현을 뺀다면 참 좋을 것 같다. 하지만 그 외에는 전반적으로 꽤 괜찮다.

To leave my own record or reference, I wrote down the same thing here again.

1. If you don’t have obex package, install it
• sudo apt-get install obexfs
2. Make a mounting point
• mkdir ~/je-phone
3. Find the MAC address of your phone
• hcitool scan
4. MAC address looks like: 1A:2B:34:5C:6D:78
5. Mount your phone using your cell phone’s MAC address following -b option.
• obexfs -b 1A:2B:34:5C:6D:78 ~/je-phone
6. Do the normal file jobs like copy, delete and so on.
7. Unmount it when you are done with all the file jobs.
• fusermount -u ~/je-phone

Overall, Ubuntu 11.10 may not going to be my favourite.

우분투 11.10으로 업그레이드를 한 후에 블루투스가 (적어도 파일 전송에서는) 작동하지 않는 것을 발견했다.  그에 대한 해결책을 http://ubuntu-answers.blogspot.com/2011/11/bluetooth-on-ubuntu-1110.html 에서 발견했고 내 블로그에 기록을 남기기 위해 동일한 내용을 다시 써 넣는다.

1. obex 꾸러미가 없다면 설치한다.
• sudo apt-get install obexfs
2. 마운팅 지점을 만든다. (이미 있으면 생략)
• mkdir ~/je-phone
3. 핸드폰의 MAC 주소를 알아낸다.
• hcitool scan
4. MAC 주소의 모양은 1A:2B:34:5C:6D:78 와 비슷하게 생겼다.
5. 핸드폰을 마운팅한다. 물론 -b 옵션 뒤에 자신의 맥 주소를 사용해야 한다.
• obexfs -b 1A:2B:34:5C:6D:78 ~/je-phone
6. 파일 복사 및 삭제와 같은 작업을 한다.
7. 작업이 다 끝났으면 마운팅을 해제한다.
• fusermount -u ~/je-phone

전반적으로 우분투 11.10은 별로인 것 같음.

Actually I prefer Blackbox to Openbox, but BB does not control dual screen well.

우분투에서 창 관리자로 오픈박스를 쓰기 시작했다.느린 건 딱 질색인데, 유니티와 그놈3는 모두 느리다.

사실 블랙박스를 오픈박스보다  선호하지만, 블박은 다중 모니터를 제대로 지원을 안해서.

토플점수는 iBT로 94점. 웨스트민스터 신학교는 88점을, 시카고 신학교는 81점을 요구한다. 다행이다.

So I had this test last week. And I registered for this test the week before. It was my very first TOEFL exam in my life, and I felt burdened, and of course decided to study for it. But nothing goes as I planned, you know. I had way more stuffs and things to do that week, and I couldn’t even read the guide book at all.

On the testing day, I knew that any electric devices are not permitted on the testing site, so I left my cell phone home. And I hurried to the place, but I got into the building at 11:35am while the due time was 11:30am.

Anyway, they let me write down some kind of oath. And I did. After that one of the staffs (or proctors) there asked me if I had a cell phone. So I answered “I left it home” and I put my hand in my pocket just to find my cell phone there. While he was saying ‘Perfect’, I showed him my cell phone. And I tried to turn if off in vain. After a few times of trying, I just pulled out the battery.

Test itself was OK. I had no idea how is the TOEFL like. As I do always in tests, I came out first (this time, at least half or an hour than other people).

I am slightly worried about the result.

토플은 누구나 다 아는 외국인용 영어 시험인데, 미국이나 캐나다 대학에서 영어가 모국어가 아닌 사람이 입학을 하려고 할 때 요구하는 점수다.

그 시험을 지난 주에 봤다. 그 전주에 등록을 했는데, 내 생의 첫 토플 시험이 되었다. 약간 부담이 되기도 하고 해서 공부를 좀 해야 겠다고 생각을 했지만, 계획대로 되는 게 없는 인생이라… 다른 할 일이 훨씬 더 많이 생겨서 책 한페이지 들여다 보지 못했다.

시험 당일, 전자 기기를 가져갈 수 없다는 걸 알고 핸드폰을 집에 놓고 갔다. 서둘러 갔지만 건물에 들어간 건 11시 35분이었다. 입장 종료시간은 11시 30분이었고.

어째든, 무슨 서약서 같은 것을 쓰게 했다. 그 후에 감독관 중 한명이 핸드폰이 있냐고 해서 ‘집에 놓고 왔다’고 말하면서 손을 주머니에 넣었는데, 바로 핸드폰이 잡혔다. 감독관이 ‘훌륭합니다’고 말하는 와중에 핸드폰을 꺼내서 보여줬다. 그리고 끄려고 했는데, 잘 안꺼졌고 몇번 시도 후에 그냥 배터리를 빼버렸다. -_-

시험 자체는 그럭저럭이었다. 예전엔 토플이 어떤지 전혀 몰랐었다. 내가 늘 시험볼때 그렇듯이, 이번에도 제일 먼저 시험장을 나왔다. 다른 사람들보다 최소한 30분에서 1시간은 먼저 나온 것 같다.

결과가 조금 걱정되긴 한다.

그런데, 별 생각이 없었는데, 영턱스 클럽의 영문명이 Young Turks Club이다. 그렇다면, 그 의미가… 젊은 터키사람들의 모임인데… 왜 하필이면 터키?

Meanwhile, I’ve got my left wrist sprained, and it’s getting better but still hurts. I just realised how thankful and what a blessing it is that we can turn or twist our wrist without pain.

아직까지 생존해 있습니다. 여전히 살아 있음을 하나님께 감사 드립니다.

그동안 손목을 삐었는데, 낫고 있긴 한데 아직 아프군요. 아무런 고통 없이 손목을 사용할 수 있다는 게 얼마나 감사하고 큰 축복인지 새삼 깨달았습니다.

요 몇일 동안 faith란 단어에 대해 생각해 보았다. 이 내용은 어쩌면 넌센스일지도 모르지만, 그냥 생각이다.

한국어로는 믿음으로 번역되는데, 믿음은 이 단어 말고 belief란 단어가 또 있다. 둘 다 믿음으로 번역되고 영영사전을 찾아봐도 비슷한 것 같다.

그렇다면 거의 똑같은 의미를 갖는 두 단어가 존재하는 이유는 뭘까? 그럴 필요가 있을까?

belief란 단어는 대체로 짐작하겠지만 believe라는 동사에서 나왔다. I believe in God이라고 하면 ‘내’가 하나님을 믿는 것이다. 그러니 내가 belief를 갖고 있다면 바로 믿는 주체는 내가 되는 것이다. 여기까지는 누구나 알고, 또 직관적인 내용이다.

그럼 faith는 어디서 나왔을까? 모르겠다. 하지만 faith에서 파생된 단어는 안다. faithful이란 단어인데, 예를 들어 남편이 아내에게 faithful하다고 하면, (성적으로 다른 여성에게 한눈을 팔지 않는 것을 포함해서) 아내에게 매우 충실하다는 뜻이 된다. 남편이 faithful할 때는 남편이 아내를 믿는 게 아니라, 아내가 남편을 믿을 수 있는 상태다.

그럼, 이제 faith와 belief의 차이가 드러난다. 바로 신뢰의 흐름의 방향이다. belief는 주체(주어)가 어떤 대상을 믿는 믿음이고 (신뢰는 주어에서 목적어로 흐른다) faith는 주체가 어떤 믿음의 대상이 되는 것이다(신뢰는 목적어에서 주어로 흐른다).

그래서, 내가 belief를 갖고 있다면 ‘내가’ 하나님을 믿는 것이다. 그런 면에서 본다면 모든 기독교인은 belief를 갖고 있다고 할 수 있다.

그리고 내가 faith를 갖고 있다면, 이제는 내가 하나님을 믿는 것에서 한걸음 더 나아가, 하나님도 나를 신뢰할 수 있는 상태인 것이다. 하나님께서 ‘아, 쟤라면 뭐든 안심하고 맡길 수 있어’라고 하는 상태 말이다. 그렇다면 얼마나 많은 기독교인들이 faith를 갖고 있을까?

예수님께서도 belief가 없는 세대라고 하지 않고 faith가 없는 세대라고 하셨다. 결국 하나님께서 믿고 안심하고 사역 및 사명을 부여할 사람이 없다는 말씀이 아닐까?

그런 의미에서, 하나님께서 내게 belief가 있냐고 묻는다면 자신있게 그렇다고 대답할 수 있는데, faith가 있냐고 물어보면, 그렇다고 대답을 하고 싶지만, 아직은 자신이 별로 없다. 언젠가는 자신있게 담대하게 faith가 충만히 있노라고 고백할 수 있게 되길 바란다.

My favourite one was Google’s Gmail Motion. And even WordPress, it had one. On the Dashboard, graph for today’s visitor was ten times bigger than actual. It surprised me anyway.

And today is April 3rd, and God is making another joke for us. It’s heavy snow now.

만우절때 주변에 재미있는 일들이 많았다.

그 중에 내가 가장 좋아했던 것은 구글의 지메일 모션이었다. 내가 쓰는 블로그 워드프레스에서도 만우절날 방문자 표시 그래프를 10배 뻥튀기 했었다. 좀 놀라기도 했지만… -_-

오늘은 4월 3일인데, 하나님께서 만우절 농담을 하시는 듯. 밖에 함박눈이 펑펑 쏟아지고 있다.

요즘 좀 이상함.

위의 해외리포터를 해리포터로 읽었음. 글을 읽다가 제목이 왜 ‘해리포터 전화 연결’인거지?라고 의아해 했음.

구글에서 ‘캐나다’가 들어간 뉴스를 검색해 보내주는데, 위의 글을 얼핏 읽으면서 “다윗의 막장 캠프”라고 읽었음. -_-;;

왠지 나도 난독증세가… -_-

I googled for the solution, and figured out that I need to embed fonts in each Korean ebook.

I tried many times and ways just to fail to display Korean in Kobo until I found Korean font embeded epub of Hermann Hesse’s Death and the Lover.

Then I just edited the contents of it with Sigil, the epub editor. Now perfect.

코보에 꽤 만족을 하고 있지만 한글이 나오지 않는 것은 문제다. 한글로 된 이북을 넣으면 물음표나 사각형으로 모든 글자가 나온다.

구글에서 검색을 해 보니, 모든 이북에 글꼴을 내장하면 된다는 것을 알았다.

여러가지를 해 봤지만 전부 실패했다. 그리고 헤르만 헤세의 지와 사랑이라는 한글 글꼴이 내장된 이북을 찾고 나서야 성공하게 되었다.

Sigil이라는 이북 편집기로 내용만 바꿔치기 하고 있다. 완벽하군.

In recent accident during the MBC’s survival show, ‘I am a professional singer,’ I fail to behave herself. Her behaviour is not something acceptable at all.

But still I love her voice and she is my favourite singer. Because what I loved was not her personality but her voice and singing. On the stage, she still takes control of the emotion of all the listeners.

Here is one of my favourite song name ‘Wind blows.’

이소라는 정말 대단한 그리고 내가 제일 좋아하는 가수다. 목소리와 노래는 모든 이들을 감동시킨다.

최근 MBC 서바이벌 방송인 나는 가수다에서 일어난 사건에서, 그녀는 물의를 일으켰다. 그녀의 행동은 용납될 수 있는 게 아니다.

하지만 여전히 그녀의 목소리가 좋고 그녀는 변함없이 내가 제일 좋아하는 가수다. 내가 좋아했던 건 그녀의 인품이 아니라 목소리와 노래였으니까. 무대에서는 여전히 듣는이들의 감정을 좌지우지한다.

위의 유튜브는 내가 좋아하는 노래인 바람이 분다.

근데 나는 가사 중에 ‘사랑은 비극이어라’를 처음에는 ‘사랑은 비둘기여라’로 들었다는 사실. -_-

예루살렘에서 시작해서, 로마로 등등 이동했던 교회의 중심이 지금은 어디인지 논의가 오가는데, 그 후보지는 둘.

하나는 대한민국 서울이고, 또 하나는 아프리카 어딘데… 잊었다.

아… 정말…. 이 사람들은 한국 교회의 실상을 모르고 선교사 숫자가 많고 등등에 대해 굉장한 환상을 갖는구나.

한국 교회의 추잡한 현실을 알면 그런 논의 하지 않을텐데…

그리고 교회의 중심은 나 자신이라고 생각한다.

예수님을 영접했으면 나 자신이 교회고, 나 자신이 교회의 중심이 되는 것이다.

I heard that there is a some kind of discuss about the centre of the Church. The centre of the Church was originally in Jerusalem, then moved to Rome and etc… etc… So they are discussing where is it now. There was two candidates.

One is Seoul, Korea. And the other is some city in Africa which I forgot.

Wow… the western Christians has some kind of false fantasy about us mostly because of the number of missionaries and etc.

If they had any chance to peek the ugly truth of Korean Church, they would never have this kind of fantasy.

Well as for me, I think the centre of the Church discuss is useless.

If you have Jesus Christ in you, then you are a Church yourself. And also you are the centre of the Church. This is what I think.

• It is cheaper.
• It is Canadian brand and has Canadian online book shop which means I can pay by CAD.
• It comes with 100 free classic books pre-installed.
• It gives six another eBooks with the signing up on their web site.

So far so satisfied. The battery goes quite long. Unlike LCD, eyes are very comfortable and easy to read in the sun.

I also bought my first book: How to the Bible for All its Worth by Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stuart.

Kobo 전자책 리더를 샀다. 전자 리더가 여러 종류가 있어서 그 중 몇 가지를 비교했다. 소니, 코보, 그리고 킨들. 그 중에 코보를 선택했는데, 그 이유는

• 먼저 값이 싸다.
• 그리고 캐나다 브랜드며 캐나다 책 쇼핑몰을 운영해서 캐나다 달러로 결재할 수 있다.
• 고전 명작 100권이 기본 설치되어 온다.
• 웹 사이트 등록하면 전자책 6권을 공짜로 또 준다.

지금까지는 꽤 만족한다. 배터리도 오래 가고, 액정 화면과 달리 눈이 편안하고, 햇빛 아래에서도 읽기가 아주 편하다.

만일 어느 성직자가 분을 잘 내고, 구타를 하고, 돈을 사랑한다면 이미 제대로 된 성직자가 아니다. 만일 그들이 스스로 하나님 앞에 바로 섰다고 말한다면 그들은 단지 성경과 하나님을 부인하는 꼴이다.
