Jiyoung, happy housewife

Last Thursday, I met Jiyoung. She already has two daughters and is bringing up one more in her womb. She is about to be the mother of three children, and she still looks so young just as she was.

Married women, without concerning how long their marriage is, say difficulties of marriage, and complains about their husbands if they are not just married. I think it is natural to have troubles because the two, who lives apart for whole life, live together.

Jiyoung was a bit different. She did not stop praising her husband, and also said so good of her mother-in-law, and showed some kind of respect to her. This looked so good to me, and I also became a bit happy.
Her first daughter, Seunghee Hwang, whose name only is pretty but with the family name not so pretty, came back from her kindergarten. Jiyoung said that Eunsook is working just over the river, across the bridge.

Seunghee is very cute and pretty, resembling her mother, Jiyoung. She at the first sight looked like that she is afraid of me, and did not say hello to me. But later, she became farmiliar to me so that we can walk hand in hand.
We got the build where Eunsook works and called her cell phone to surprise her. And she said, “I don’t work there now.”

We went to her new work place for there is not so far from her old work place. She could not make long break, we just stopped by a convenient store to drink something, and she had short conversation. Eunsook also looks just as she was. Well, she does not have a baby yet.

I hope all woment around me happy.

행복한 아줌마, 지영

지난 목욜에 지영이를 만났다. 벌써 딸 둘에, 아이가 또 한 명 배속에 키우고 있다. 곧 애 셋 딸린 아줌마가 될 텐데도 예전 모습 그대로 매우 어려보였다.

결혼한 여자들을 만나보면 결혼한지 얼마나 오래되었느냐와 상관없이 아주 신혼이 아니라면 대부분 어려움을 토로하고, 힘들다고 하고, 그리고 남편에 대해 불평을 한다. 평생을 따로 살던 두 사람이 같이 사는데, 갈등도 생기고 문제도 생기는 것이 당연한 것이라고 생각한다.

지영은 좀 달랐다. 시종일관 남편에 대한 칭찬과 자랑이 이어졌고, 시어머니에 대해서도 매우 좋게 말하면서 일종의 존경심을 내비쳤다. 그러한 모습이 너무나 보기 좋았고, 나에게도 행복이 이어져 오는 듯 했다.

이름만 들으면 예쁘지만, 성과 붙여 들으면 좀 덜 예쁜 큰 딸인 승희(황승희)가 유치원에서 돌아오고나서 은숙이가 바로 한강 다리 건너에서 일한다고 해서 같이 보러 갔다.

큰 딸은 지영을 닮아서 매우 귀여웠다. 처음에는 나를 매우 경계하고 인사도 안하더니, 나중에는 많이 친해져서 손도 잡고 다녔다.

은숙이 일하는 건물 1층에 도착해서 놀래키려고 전화를 했다. 그랬더니 한다는 소리가 “나 거기서 일 안하는데”

그리 멀지 않은 곳이어서 다시 버스타고, 또 한참 걸어서 겨우 도착했다. 근무중인 사람과 오랫동안 있을 수 없어서 편의점에서 음료수 마시면서 잠시 얘기를 했다. 은숙도 별로 달라진 게 하나도 없이 예전 모습이었다. 하기 아직 애는 없으니까…

내 주변의 모든 여성들은 모두 다 행복하게 지냈으면 좋겠다.

Belt

This tuesday, I met Ikho Shin who was the CTO of my ex-workplace.

He also considers seriously emigration to US or Canada for the education of his children and other things. We talked much and went to Dusan Tower because he wanted to buy me underwear for winter. But I already have two more, I told him that I need a belt.

In the underground floor of Dusan Tower, the belts’ prices were about 150 dollars, and some nice belts were over 500 dollars…
Then we went up to forth floor to find the very same belts have their prices about 18 or 20 dollars. I chose one that I like. The clerk cut off the belt to make it short, and made a hole in it. But when I used it at home first time, I found it too big. So I had no choice but to make three more holes in it.

허리띠

이번 화요일에 예전에 같이 일했던 신익호 이사님을 만났다.

이사님도 한국에서의 삶이 힘드신지, 그리고 자녀 교육 때문에 미국 및 캐나다로의 이민을 심각하게 고려하고 있다. 많은 이야기를 나누고 나서 두산타워에 가서 내복을 사주려 하시는 걸, 이미 두 벌이나 갖고 있기 때문에 허리띠를 사 달라고 했다.

두산타워 지하에 가니, 보통 15만원, 좀 좋아 보이는 것은 50만원이 넘어간다…

그러다 4층에 올라가니, 똑같은 것을 2만원 혹은 18,000원에 판다.  거기서 마음에 드는 것을 하나 골라 샀다. 가게 점원이 허리띠를 많이 짧게 하고, 구멍을 하나 더 뚫었는데, 집에 와서 보니 그래도 커서 구멍을 세 개나더 뚫었다.

Everything has meaning

Training at the driving school, I found something funny – (almost) everything in the school has meaning. They gives specific sign to the students.

Though it might be happen in the real life, a standing lamp, a abandoned broom, a cleaning tools are all sending some meaning to the students such as:

• Put the lamp stand on you straight front and go forth to make your tractor and trailer in a line.
• Go forth just when the abandoned broom is disappear from your side mirror, then the angle of your car should be just.
• Slow down when you see the cleaning tools in your left side, then there would be no problem.
• Put the column on your right shoulder, then make reversing.

Well, I wonder that everything in this world that God had made gives me specific sign. If so, how many of them do I acknowledge and understand?

If only I had full understanding of the kinds and meaning of all signs, I would make my life greatest success.

모든 것이 싸인

운전 학원에서 연습을 하다 보니, 재미있는 것을 알았다.  바로, 운전학원에 있는 (거의) 모든 것은 다 역할과 이유가 있다. 그 것은 시험자에게 싸인을 보내는 것이다.

실생활에서는 그럴 일이 없지만, 운전학원에서는 서 있는 가로등 하나, 바닥에 버려져 있는 빗자루 하나, 가지런히 정렬되어 있는 청소도구 하나 모두 시험자에게 일종의 싸인을 보낸다.

• 불이 켜져 있는 가로등을 정면에 두고 직진을 하면 차가 정렬이 됨
• 버려져 있는 빗자루가 후사경에서 사라질 때까지만 직진하면 차의 각도가 정확히 됨
• 청소도구가 곁눈이로 보이는 때부터 서행을 하고 멈출 준비를 하면 문제 없음
• 휑 하니 혼자 서 있는 기둥을 어깨에 맞추고 나서 후진을 하면 됨

등이다.

이렇게 생각해 보니, 하나님께서 만드신 이 세상의 모든 만물이 각기 나에게 싸인을 보내는 것은 아닐까? 그렇다면 나는 그 싸인 중에 얼마나 인식하고 이해하고 있을까?

그 싸인의 종류와 의미를 알고 그대로만 한다면 최고로 성공하는 인생이 될텐데…

School for driver’s licence

I got driver’s licence for tractor-trailer, and the one I know got this also at other school. The two schools are completely different.

He did at Incheon, and I at Namyangju.

For the first, Incheon:

• The price is low.
• Instructors are so very unkind.
• Instructors speak out so many bad words and names.
• Instructors always bring club even though they don’t hit students.
• Instructors don’t care the exam.

And Namyangju:

• The price is a little bit higher than Incheon’s.
• Instructors are very kind and they always have smile on their face.
• In case I make mistake, instructors say “You did very well, but it would be better to do like this…”
• Instructors are very polite.
• Instructors take much care in the time of exam on their students.

I am so satisfied the school where I was trained:

운전학원 비교

이번에 내가 트레일러 면허를 취득하면서, 아는 분 한분도 다른 학원에서 같이 면허를 땄다. 그래서 학원을 비교하게 되었는데 완전 다른 특성을 갖고 있다.

그 분은 인천에 있는, 나는 남양주에 있는 학원을 다녔다.

먼저, 인천. 가격은 쌌다. 선생님들이 욕을 많이 한고 친절하지 못하다고 한다. 선생님들이 때리지는 않지만 시위용으로 몽둥이를 들고 다닌다고 한다. 면허 시험볼 때 방치한다.

그리고, 남양주. 가격은 인천보다는 비싸다. 선생님들이 매우 친절하고 항상 웃는다. 실수하는 경우에도 늘 “잘하셨지만…이 아쉽다”고 얘기해 준다. 선생님들이 항상 존대말을 써 주고 매우 친절하다. 시험볼 때에 선생님들이 많이 신경써 준다.

나는 내가 다녔던 학원에 만족도가 매우 높다.

Final activity in Korea

From three weeks before departure, that is two weeks ago from now, I got so boring. And I decided to get the driver’s license for tractor-trailer.

I got ten hours’ training and passed the examination at the very first try. The result is:

It says Class 1 General + Class 1 for Large (Commercial) vehicles + Special Class for Tractor-Trailer.

I got test using this car:

The driver is not I for I took this picture. He also passed at once.

In Korea, tractor-trailer exam is composed of three steps of:

1. Connecting tractor to trailer: five minutes limit (I took it for thirty seconds)
2. T Course (See the youtube below): five minutes limit (I took it for four minutes)
3. Disconnecting tractor from trailer: five minutes limit (I took it for thirty seconds)

한국에서의 마지막 활동

출국 3주 전에, 그러니까 지금부터 2주 전부터 심심해졌다. 그래서 별로 쓸 일도 없지만 트레일러 면허를 땄다.

10시간 공부하고 시험을 첫 번에 바로 붙었다. 결과는:

1종 보통 + 1종 대형 + 특수면허 (트레일러)

시험을 본 차는

내가 타고 있는 사진 아니다. 난 찍었다. 저 분도 한 번에 합격.

트레일러 면허 시험은 3단계로 이루어 지는데,

1. 트랙터와 트레일러 합체: 5분 제한 (나는 30초 걸렸음)
2. T 코스 (아래의 유튜브 동영상 참고): 5분 제한 (나는 4분 걸렸음)
3. 트랙터와 트레일러 분리: 5분 제한 (나는 30초 걸렸음)

다른 사람이 연습하는 T 코스를 찍어서 유튜브에 올렸다.
