To protect and to serve?

In Canada, I saw it is written “To Protect and to serve” on the police cars. Yes, they do. Most officers I met were very kind and they really tried to help me much. I thank them and I respect them.

In Corea, it is quite different.

The Corean police were the descendant of pro-japanese who persecuted the good people to serve Japanese. That is to say, they are like the some french people who helped the Germans in World War II.

In Corea, the pro-japs became the leaders and high social class members after the World War II. Can you believe that?

And because the police were made to protect and to serve the Japanese in Korea at the times of colony, they are very good at that - serving and protecting the power and the rich. And they are also very good at persecuting the people and the needed.

In Canada, I found that many people respect the police (officers) but in Corea, most of them hates and despise them. They say that the police are disgusting. Why is that? Because the police have made themselves disgusting since the time of colony.

But in the times of President DJ Kim and President MH Rho, they kept the police persecuting the people and they ordered them to serve the people.

Now, MB Lee became the president who was born at Japan, he again let the police their original job.

With the issue of beef importation from US, many people made several peaceful demonstration with candle light. Many young students attended there. And MB Lee, being the president of a country, commanded the police to arrest the young students and punish them.

So the policemen went to the school and took the student from the classroom.

The f**king Corean Police will serve and protect only the power and the rich forever, and they will persecute the people - the powerless and the needed. Because they were made for that. Damn!

부활한 민중의 몽둥이

민중의 몽둥이가 부활했다.

고등학생을 수업 중에 끌고 가 조사를 하고 정상적인 집회를 방해하다니!

하긴… 한국 경찰의 원조는 일제 압잡이들이니까… 조선의 양민들 쥐어 짜고 학대해서 일본놈들 섬기는 것이 그들의 본분이니까…. 해방 후에도 선량한 국민들 죽도록 탄압하면서 가진 자와 정권을 섬기고 빨아줬었지…

원래 하던 짓이 그 건데, 김대중 선생님과 노무현 대통령님이 못 하게 막고 일반 시민을 섬기도록 했으니… 얼마나 괴롭고… 시민들 패주고 싶어서 몸이 근질거렸을까…

이제 다시 제 세상 만났지. 신나게 시민들 탄압하면서 패주면서 행복하겠지… 원래 하던 짓이니까…

원래 그 걸 위해 만들어졌던 조직이니까… 일제시대부터 계속 해왔던 짓이니까…

캐나다에선 경찰이 꽤 존경받는데 한국은 그렇지 못하다고 한국 사회의 일그러진 모습을 한탄하고 질타하는 사람들이 있는데…. 캐나다 경찰만큼 한국 경찰이 해 봐라. 사람들이 존경을 안하나.

한국은 democracy(민주주의)가 아니다. Democrazy다. demo + crazy = 민중을 미치게 하는 정치. c가 z로 바뀌었을 뿐이다. Democrazy.

School day and garbage day

In North America or at least in Winnipeg, we have school day and garbage day while they do not in Korea (probably not in Japan too).

The garbage and school schedules are run by the day of the week in Korea.

And in Korea, they have to buy government plastic garbage bag. The plastic bag is usually white and the local government name and mark are printed on it. The government bags are expensive but they have no choice.

한국에선 (아마 일본도) 학교 시간표랑 쓰레기 치우는 일정이 요일 따라 가지만, 북미에선 (적어도 위니펙에선) School day와 Garbage day란 것이 있다.

School day는 1부터 6까지 있고 Garbage day는 1부터 5까지 있어서 는 대체로 요일과 비슷하게 가지만 꼭 그렇진 않다.

예를 들어 금요일이 Garbage 5였는데, 월욜이 휴일이라면 (마침 다음주 월욜이 Victoria Day라 휴일이다) 화욜이 Garbage 2가 아니라 Garbage 1이 된다.

School day는 6까지 있기 때문에 금욜이 School day 5였으면, 다음주 월욜은 휴일이고, 화욜이 School day 6이 되고 수욜이 School day 1이 된다.

모든 학교 관련된 일정과 행사는 이 School day를 기준으로 짜여진다. 보통 월욜에 휴일이 꽤 많기 때문에 요일별로 시간표를 짜면 월욜 들은 수업은 많이 빠질 텐데, 별도로 School day를 두어 운영하니 그런 문제는 없어진다.

쓰레기도 마찬가지다. 월욜이 치우는 지역 주민은 경우에 따라 보름 심하면 3주씩 쓰레기를 걷어가지 않는 일이 발생할 수 있는 것을 Garbage day를 두어 예방하는 것이다.

이른 아침에 하는 (뉴스) 방송은 거의 반드시 School day와 Garbage day를 알려주고, 신문엔 표지인 1면의 신문제호 바로 아래에 표기가 되어 있다.

International phonecall to S. Korea

To make an international phone call, you have to press 011, not 001. I saw some Koreans tried 001 because in Korea we have to press 001 to make an international call.

And the Country code for South Korea is 82. In the area code, you have to get rid of the first ‘0.’

For example, if you want to make a phone call to 123-4567 in Seoul (whose area code is 02), you should press the following:

011-82-2-123-4567
International call - Country code - Area code without leading 0 - phone number

Another example, in case you are going to phone your friend’s cell phone in Korea whose phone number is 011-987-6543:

011-82-11-987-6543
International call - Country code - Area code without leading 0 - phone number

한국으로 국제 전화를 걸려면 먼저 011을 눌러야 한다. 001이 아니라 011이다. 그리고 국가 번호 82를 누르고, 지역번호는 앞의 0을 빼고 누른다. 뒤에는 전화번호를 누르면 되고.

예를 들어 서울의 123-4567로 전화를 걸려면 다음과 같이 누르면 된다:

011-82-2-123-4567

I saw hope

In the last President Election and the general election, I saw the despair and thought there would be no hope and no future.

I was right. There is no hope at all in the Korean adults.

And today, I saw the candle light demonstrations at Youtube. Most of them were school girls probably grade 7 to 12.

I felt my tears came down and I saw the hope for Korea. They have future.

Shame to all Korean adults and mostly young adults! And my respect to the school girls.

지난 대선과 총선에서 난 절망을 봤다. 그리고 대한민국에 희망도 미래도 없다고 생각했다.

내 생각은 맞았던 거 같다. 난 국개론을 믿었다.

오늘 유튜브에서 촛불 시위 동영상들을 봤다. 감동이었다. 대부분 여중고생이었다. 눈물이 나더라.

난 오늘 여중생들에게서 그리고 여고생들에게서 희망을 보았고 미래를 보았다.

여중고생들에게 존경을 보낸다. 그리고 어른과 청년들, 쪽팔린 줄 알아라. 병신들아.

 

Canada is the second worst country

National Geographic made an survey and published the Greendex and Canada ranked in Second worst country. The very worst country is USA.

They surveyed fourteen countries in the world and Korea was not even in the target countries.

The result is:

National Geographic이 환경 친화적인 국가 조사를 했다(Greendex). 총 14나라를 조사했는데, 한국은 조사국 목록에도 들지 못했다. 한국의 국가적 위상을 열라 잘 보여준다.

암튼 이 조사에서 캐나다가 꼴등에서 두 번째를 했고, 미국은 당당히 꼴찌를 했다. 국가 순위는 위에 나온 순위대로다.

Mother’s day

In Korea we have a day which Canada does not have - that is Children’s day at May 5th. And in Canada, we have Mother’s day and Father’s day separately while in Korea we have one day of Parents’ day.

Every second Sunday in May is Mother’s day. This coming Sunday is that day.

I love you, mom. I mean it.

한국에는 어린이 날이 있지만 캐나다엔 그런 날이 없다. 그리고 한국엔 어버이 날이 있지만, 캐나다는 어머니 날과 아버지 날이 따로 있다. 어머니 날은 5월 둘째 주일(일요일)로 이제 돌아오는 주일이다.

어머니 사랑합니다. 진심이예요.

Koreans have already been infected by CJD

The whole country of S. Korea is now saying about CJD and crazy cow disease. But I think they have already been infected completely by CJD.

요즘 한국이 광우병과 CJD를 떠들어 대지만, 내 생각에 이미 한국은 오래 전부터 CJD에 감염됐다. CJD는 위에 보는 바로 그 줄임말.

About current administration of S. Korea

It is not possible to say what the MB Lee government is going to do even with hundreds web pages. But there is one thing I can say:

Whatever you imagine, you will see more.

And I can see the whole country is trying to drive MB Lee out. But if the Han-nara party did not tried that at the times of MH Rho, most Korean people would not know that it is possible. They taught the people, and they are now punched.

2MB 정부가 하는 짓들은 수백의 웹 페이지로도 다 쓸 수 없을 듯 하다. 하지만 한 가지 확실하게 말 할 수 있는 건 하나 있는 데…

무엇을 상상하던 그 이상을 보게 될 것이다.

지금 온 나라가 탄핵 한다고 난린데, 만일 딴나라당이 노무현 대통령 탄핵을 시도하지 않았다면 국민 대부분은 탄핵이란 것이 있는 줄도 몰랐을 거다. 결국 지들이 국민들에게 알려준 걸로 지금 당하는 거지.

Another birthday party

At the refreshment after the 9:15 service last Sunday, I talked to Donna Mawson and found out that her husband, Robert, has his own birthday at May 1st which is the same to me! They were going to have a party that evening and I was invited there too.

At Mawson’s, there were two daughters and a son-in-law with five grand children (Another son-in-law was on duty). We had a great time with so much fun - taking pictures with funny birthday hat bought at Disney World, playing, talking, and the likes.

And more over, I was happy only by the invitation but they also prepared bunch of gifts!!! He and I opened the presents one by one. It was my first Canadian style birthday party.

Funny thing is I am now 33 and Robert is 66. He is just the double my age.

지난 주일, 아침 9시 15분 예배 후 다과 시간에 도나 모슨 아주머니랑 얘길 했는데, 남편 로버트가 나랑 같이 5월 1일 생일이고, 그날 저녁에 파티를 한다고 했다. 그리고 그 파티에 초대를 받았다.

모슨씨 집에 가니 딸 둘과 사위, 그리고 손주 다섯이 있었다(한  사위는 근무중이었음). 꽤 즐거운 시간을 보냈다. 케익도 먹고, 저녁은 물론 겁나 잘 먹고, 놀고, 얘기하고, 참 디즈니월드에서 사 온 재밌는 생일 모자 쓰고 사진도 찍었다.

그리고, 초대 받은 것만도 감사한데, 예상치 못한 선물도 한 아름 받아 왔다. 로버트씨와 내가 번갈아 가면서 선물을 하나씩 풀었다. 모두들 앞에서 선물을 풀어 보이는 것이 여기 풍습이라고… 암튼 첫 캐나다식 생일 파티였다.

웃긴 건, 난 33이 됐고, 로버트씨는 66이 됐다. 딱 두 배네.

Birthday Surprise at Choir

Last Thursday, May 1st, was my birthday. But I did not tell this anyone in my choir. So I was not expecting anything.

But at the break, they gave me surprise! Debbie, the wife of Peter, made cup cakes and there were candles saying “Happy Birthday” on the cakes (Peter Bush is the minister of my Church here). The choir gave me birthday card and gift - generator with two lights.

Well, I do not have tools so I was not yet able to install them on my bike.

지난 목욜 5월 1일은 생일이었지만 성가대 누구에게도 말을 하지 않았다. 그래서 아무 것도 기대하지 않았다(성가대는 목욜에 연습).

성가대 쉬는 시간에 깜짝 파티를 해 줬다. 캐나다에서 첨 당해보는(?) 깜짝 파티였다. 사모님인 데비가 손수 컵케익을 만들고 Happy Birthday 모양의 초를 꽂았다. 생일 카드와 선물도 받았다.

선물은 자전거에 붙이는 발전기와 전구였지만 연장이 없어서 아직 설치를 못하고 있다.

Winnipeg Male Chorus 2008 Spring Concert

Last Saturday, I went to Winnipeg Male Chorus 2008 Spring Concert which was held at Sturgeon Creek United Church.

They sang so well and there was a guest choir - St. James and Assiniboia Divisional Senior Choir. They are from grade 9 to 12. The young voices were so beautiful and made wonderful harmony with the male voices.

Mr. and Mrs. Cuthbertson invited me to this concert, and I thank them so much.

위니펙 남성 중창단 2008년 봄 공연을 지난 토요일에 보러 갔다. Thompson Dr.에 있는 Sturgeon Creek United Church에서 열렸다.

꽤 노래를 잘 했고, 특히나 게스트 합창단으로 St. James and Assiniboia Divisional Senoir Choir가 나왔는데 어린 목소리라 참 듣기 좋았다. 그리고 남성 목소리와 조화를 꽤 잘 이루었다. 얘네들은 9학년부터 12학년까지 이루어져 있다.

Cuthbertson 할머니 할아버지가 초대해 주셔서 가게 되었다. 꽤 유쾌한 공연이었다. 땡큐~
